A Journey of Flavor: The Jersey Joe’s Story
In 1973, a passionate food enthusiast named Bryant opened a cheesesteak restaurant in New Jersey. His vision was simple: to serve authentic cheesesteaks made with fresh bread, generous portions of freshly sliced Ribeye, cheese, and no seasoning—letting the quality of the ingredients speak for themselves.
Bryant moved the business to California, bringing the taste of New Jersey cheesesteaks to the West Coast. Despite plans to franchise the business, these ambitions didn't materialize, but the spirit of his culinary philosophy remained strong.
In 2003, Don took over the reins of the restaurant. He continued to operate it as a beloved, low-key cheesesteak joint, staying true to the original recipes and maintaining the high standards set by Bryant.
Don retired in 2019, and Tasty Road, Inc. acquired the restaurant with the goal of resuming Bryant's original vision. Committed to preserving the legacy, the company kept the same cherished cheesesteak recipes. The focus remained on using fresh bread baked daily, generous portions of freshly sliced Ribeye, and cheese—without any additional seasoning.
The first step under new ownership was to renovate the kitchen and restrooms, addressing all sanitization issues and ensuring a clean environment for both staff and customers. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic—including skyrocketing ingredient prices and employment crises—the company maintained its commitment to great food quality and hearty portions. They supported their team, recognizing that a dedicated staff is essential to achieving their goals.
In 2023, responding to customer feedback, Jersey Joe's renovated the dining area of the San Carlos’ lcoation to provide a cleaner and more enjoyable environment.
The menu was expanded to include gourmet burgers crafted with the same philosophy as their cheesesteaks: quality ingredients, hearty portions, and affordable prices. These burgers feature an egg brioche bun baked fresh daily, a house-blend patty made from Angus Ribeye and Top Round ground and molded on the premises, and a special house-made burger spread known as JJB.
In 2024, Jersey Joe's enhanced their offerings by introducing hand-cut fresh potatoes, double-fried for a crispy exterior and creamy interior—a culinary method typically being used in upscale restaurants. They maintained prices and even increased portions, delivering exceptional value to their customers.
That same year, 2024, Tasty Road, Inc. opened a second Jersey Joe's location in San Jose Eastridge. This expansion aimed to spread their food philosophy and allow more people to experience the delight of Jersey Joe's, where every bite is a delight.
